The publisher is not engaged in rendering medical, legal or other professional advice. The information provided on providers and costs (billed and allowed) comes directly from the most recent years available from the U.S. Government, namely Medicare, a national health insurance program currently administered by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). It is important to recognize that most Americans covered by Medicare are 65 or older. Medicare also covers younger people with disability status as determined by the Social Security Administration (SSA) and people with end stage renal diseases, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS or Lou Gehrig’s disease). There may be providers who are not listed in Provider Ranking System™ as they do not care for patients insured by Medicare. Likewise, there may be missing services (HCPCS) which are not commonly performed on patients under the age of 65. Though this data base is extensive, it is not a complete picture of all practicing providers and all services. It should not be used as sole evidence for absolute information on a provider. It can assist in making decisions for specific conditions and  help payors make reimbursement determinations and select providers, but it cannot consider the uniqueness of each patient’s clinical circumstances. The ranking information provided does not constitute medical advice or medical care. Treating healthcare professionals are solely responsible for diagnosis, treatment and medical advice. Treating doctors are independent and exercise independent judgment  over whom DDI has no control or right of control.
