The principals and medical data experts of Denniston Data have together founded and built multiple enterprises in the healthcare field. Each of the companies founded by the same principals grew to be leaders in their field. They were all recognized for their success and eventually merged into multi-billion-dollar health information companies. They included:

  • MDR (Medical Device Register), merged into Thomson Reuters/Medical Economics
  • Physicians GenRx (Data Pharmaceutica/Physician Online), merged into Times Mirror/Mosby
  • ODG (Official Disability Guidelines), merged into Hearst Health/MCG

Our team includes medical data experts, software engineers, and web designers. In the current environment operations are decentralized, with team members working out of multiple states, most of them being in Texas, California, and New York.

Phil Denniston is an experienced healthcare publishing and consulting executive, having successfully built and managed major ventures impacting the health and productivity of working people.

President & Founder, ODG – Work Loss Data Institute, Encinitas, California & Texas. Created, built, and ran leading company providing information and standards on workplace health and productivity, including evidence-based medical treatment in workers’ comp, Official Disability Guidelines. Company sold to MCG Health, part of the Hearst Health Network.

President & Founder, Data Pharmaceutica, New York, New  York. Created, built, and ran company with the leading pharmaceutical database covering both clinical pharmacology and costs. Company sold to Mosby-Yearbook (Times Mirror).

President, Medical Economics Data, Oradell, New Jersey. Responsibility for the Physicians’ Desk Reference (PDR), American Health Consultants (publisher of Occupational Health Management, Case Management Advisor, Employee Health & Fitness), the Red Book, and dozens of other properties.

President & Founder, Medical Device Register, Stamford, Connecticut. Created, built, and ran company with largest database of medical equipment and supplies, the MDR. Company sold to Medical Economics (Thomson Corporation).

Pat Whelan, COO and CFO

Patricia Whelan Denniston is a publisher and co-founder of a number of leading medical database offerings.  Pat has also developed and conducted several CE courses and workshops for various organizations nationwide, including: Disability Management Employers’ Coalition (DMEC), National Workers Compensation & Disability Conference, American Association of Occupational Nurses (AAOHN), California Workers Comp Forum, Texas Workers’ Comp Forum and International Academy of Independent Medical Evaluators (IAIAME) formerly called American Academy of Disability Evaluating Physicians (AADEP).

ODG Treatment has been adopted by many states nationwide.
